Bearcat Big Give – Friday and Saturday!

In conjunction with Fall Family Weekend, Campus Activities Board, Alpha Phi Omega, and the Center for Public Service will be hosting its first annual donation drive, “The Bearcat Big Give”, as a community service project.

Donated items would be distributed between two local family oriented organizations:

  • CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocates of St. Clair County

Provides court advocacy to children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect.  CASA uses trained volunteers as advocates for children.

  • Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois

The Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois provides services for anyone who is a victim of domestic violence: women, men, children and the elderly. Any woman who is being abused/battered may seek temporary shelter at the VPC; alternative arrangements for safe shelter are made for male victims. The shelter is equipped with facilities for persons with disabilities.

Donations will be accepted at check-in on Friday and Saturday during Fall Family Weekend.  There will also be drop boxes in specified locations on Saturday.  The local community can begin drop off on Thursday, September 24 at the Center for Public Service, located in Carnegie Hall on the McKendree University Campus.

Suggested Donations Items Include:

·         Stuffed animals

·         Toiletries (deodorant, shampoo, soap, feminine products, etc) for teenagers

·         Educational toys and Books appropriate for kids aged 2-12

Mission Improvable – Comedy

8:00 pm, The Hett, $5.00 General Admission; Free McKendree Students

The agents of MISSION IMPROVable Comedy Team are just a few audience suggestions away from creating a brand new and original production that's all about whatever you tell them!

This fast-paced and exciting new form of comedy is a combination of MTV's "Wild 'N Out" and "Who's Line is it Anyway?" - but there is a bit of a twist. Just like in the old TV series "Mission Impossible," the Chicagoan actors in Mission IMPROVable pretend to be agents.  The audience members are the co-agents and participate in the hilarious theater games or "missions" by yelling out suggestions. The on-the-spot randomness provided by the audience makes each mission truly unique and very often hysterical.
