Dear Student:
Who We Are
The Writing Resource Center is located in Clark 201. We offer writing assistance to all students, faculty, and staff, either by appointment or on a walk-in basis during posted hours.
What We Do
Our philosophy at the Writing Resource Center is to help writers help themselves. What that means is that we will not just proofread a paper. Our job is instead to help students become better writers. We try to offer help with the following:
1. Developing invention techniques
2. Creating a good thesis
3. Improving organizational skills
4. Improving audience awareness
5. Improving unity and coherence
6. Improving proofreading skills
7. Improving grammar skills
8. Developing sentence clarity and sentence variety
9. Developing methods of revision
10. Improving research and documentation skills (APA or MLA)
Setting Up An Appointment
Call 537-2150 to set up an appointment or stop by Clark Hall 201 during posted hours. It is better to set up an appointment because walk-in sessions are available only if no other students have scheduled appointments. You can also email us at writingcenter@mckendree.edu to set up an appointment.
Preparing for a Tutoring Session
Students should come to a tutoring session with a copy of their essay and/or a copy of the assignment you have been given. If you are a student, make sure to bring a copy of the assignment and any drafts or notes you have developed for the assignment.
