Instructional Media

Mission

The Instructional Media department supports McKendree University’s mission by providing the best possible classroom technology and technology support to our instructors and students. IM also supports the University’s mission by providing assistance and training in classroom technology.

Course Management Software

Blackboard was chosen by McKendree as our course management system. We have integrated Blackboard with the campus database so that Blackboard courses are automatically created and students automatically enrolled for all courses.

Classroom Technology

Each McKendree classroom has as a minimum; a computer connected to the campus information network and the Internet, a combination DVD/VHS player, a data projector and an overhead projector. Several classrooms have SmartBoards and document cameras. TurningPoint classroom polling devices are available from the Information Technology department for checkout. IT also has laptop computers and portable data projectors for instructors to use when teaching off-campus.

Video Support

IM provides support to instructors by producing, editing and creating video streams to be used in the classroom or through Blackboard.

Blended Learning/e-Learning

The Instructional Media department also supports the McKendree University mission by providing assistance, advice and support in the design and presentation of our distance learning courses.

Training and Assistance

The IM department provides workshops, seminars and one-on-one training.
