Meet Melissa

"The first time I visited campus, I already felt like I was at home!"

Name: Melissa Funk

Class: 2011

Major: Mathematics - Secondary Education

Why did you come to McKendree?
I decided to come to McKendree because they have an outstanding education program, and I have always dreamed of becoming a teacher. Furthermore, the small class size is amazing because there is a better student to teacher relationship. Also, the first time I visited campus, I already felt like I was at home!

What is your favorite part of McKendree?

My favorite part of McKendree is the fountain. I know when spring is near because they turn the fountain back on which makes a relaxing sensation go through my body. Every time, I have had a stressful day, I enjoy sitting by the fountain because it relaxes me. Plus, listening to the water drop makes me feel like I am on the beach.

Why would you encourage others to come to McKendree?

I encourage other students to come to McKendree because of the small classroom sizes that lead to outstanding lifelong friendships.

What extracurriculars and activities are you involved in?

I am a Student Ambassador, a member of SIEA, the Running Club, a treasurer and a chair of the Sisterhood Committee of McKendree Extension Committee. I am also a member of Kappa Delta Pi honor society.
