Name: Cory Freivogel

Major:  Political Science

Why did you choose McKendree University?
I chose McKendree for a number of reasons. Most importantly, I love the small class sizes. McKendree offers an extremely personal educational experience that no giant university could possibly match. I am also extremely interested in politics and sociology, and McKendree's department of Social Science was very highly recommended. Even before becoming a student, I developed relationships with a number of students and faculty members, which made me even more excited to attend. McKendree also offers a phenomenal debate team. Considering that I debated for four years in high school, McKendree's coaching staff and amazing track record of success made the team a very attractive option.

What is your favorite part of McKendree?
It's really hard to pick out a favorite memory or anecdote; a lot has happened in the last three years. Something that I always enjoy is talking with professors whose classes I took years ago and realizing that even now they still take a genuine interest in my current classes and activities. It is great to know that at McKendree I am not just another student. I know that the relationships I have developed at McKendree will have a very significant impact on me for the rest of my life.

Why would you encourage other students to come to McKendree?
I encourage other students to come to McKendree for the same reasons that I came to McKendree. It is a small campus that is filled with some of the most talented educators in the country. McKendree offers a unique educational opportunity that will not disappoint anyone who has the benefit of experiencing it.

Extracurriculars:   I am the captain of the debate team. In addition to being an active debater, I also judge practice rounds and assist in coaching younger members of the team.
